  1. Developer Preview Update Patch

  3. The DPPatch.tar file contains an update package to the Mac OS X
  4. Developer Preview CD that was distributed at WWDC '99 and sent to
  5. Premier and Select program members. It provides a collection of bug
  6. fixes and updates to improve your experiences with Mac OS X. It is
  7. suggested that all developers install the patch after they have
  8. installed Mac OS X Developer Preview.

  10. Installation of the Developer Preview Update

  12. 1. Log into Mac OS X as Root
  13.  
  14. 2. Download/copy the DPPatch.tar file to a directory on your Mac OS
  15. X system.

  17. 3. Unarchive the file. Select the DPPatch.tar file. Open the
  18. Contents panel of the Inspector located in the Tools menu (You can
  19. use command-2 as a shortcut). The panel should state "The selection
  20. was archived using the UNIX tar command." Click on the Unarchived
  21. button.

  23. 4. Install the DPPatch package. When the system is done unarchiving
  24. the file, double click on the created DPPatch.pkg file. After the
  25. Installer opens, click on the Install button. A dialog box will
  26. display stating that files will get overwritten; click Continue.

  28. 5. Restart your system. When the Installer has completed, you will
  29. need to restart the system for the update to take effect.
